Gucci's runway show in Pitti Palace
After New York’s Art District in 2015 and the cloisters of London’s Westminster Abbey in 2016, this year Gucci has chosen Florence as the place to present its 2018 cruise collection. On 29 May, the Pitti Palace’s Palatine Gallery, one of the most striking locations in the city, will host a fashion show of this caliber for the first time in its history. To emphasize the label’s love for its hometown, Gucci will donate 2 million euro to restore the Boboli Gardens, which are regarded as the Versailles of Italy.
The gesture transforms the maison into a contemporary patron of the arts, returning the gardens to Florence, just as they were during the Medici era.
