Nero su Nero - Da Fontana e Kounellis a Galliani
In the beginning was the BLACK; an absolute darkness before the inevitable big bang!
Following a condition linked to the absence of light, the black phenomenal is that which remains in shadow. There are an infinite amount of blacks: black “mummy”, carbon black, vine black, black ivory, sepia, black Frankfurt… but absolute black does not exist. The first artist to paint black on black was Rodtchenko, but there are contemporary artists who make this their black starting point: after the big American such as Frank Stella and Ad Reinhardt – Italians are now moving in this direction: Scanavino , Mariani, D’Oora, Arrighi, Podesta. The new group exhibition of contemporary art at Villa Bardini, edited by Vera Agosti, makes us reflect on the use of the color black in painting and sculpture. Through a selection of 31 masterpieces by renowned artists, representative of the key moments of the history of contemporary art in our country. Works from Lucio Fontana, Paul Chip, Alberto Burri, and many others.
