Michelangelo’s Museum

The glorious David, portrayed while nonchalantly holding the sling that will make him King of Israel, stands out in the nearly white light of the Tribune. The sculpture’s marble solemnity is highlighted by Michelangelo’s Prisoners, which are all showcased in the room dedicated to the Florentine genius. It is said that Buonarroti began working on the David in 1501 by using a block of marble that had been discarded by Agostino d’Antonio di Duccio and then abandoned and exposed to the elements for years in the courtyard of the Opera del Duomo Museum.
