Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

The 2018-2019 & 2019-2020 seasons

The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, bears the name of the oldest lyric and symphonic festival in Italy, while in Europe it is preceded only by that of Salzburg and Bayreuth. It represents the main Florentine music institution with a calendar that finds its maximum expression in its modern theater. It is the height of art and architecture. In short, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is to Florence what the Teatro alla Scala is to Milan. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra, today regularly directed by Fabio Luisi, together with the great Zubin Mehta, principal conductor emeritus, will celebrate its 90th anniversary this year, and the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 opera/orchestra seasons will be dedicated to this important milestone.
