An ideal shopping day would be

I was born in England but I’ve also lived in USA and India before making Florence my home. The first time I visited the city over 17 years ago I had an overwhelming feeling of being at home for the first time in my life. It’s the combination of the history, the beauty, the style, the food and of course the people who make Florence so easy to feel at home in. I collaborated with the team of “Irene” at the Hotel Savoy and the “Gucci Garden”.

I would then drop by Benheart in Via Della Vigna Nuova to look for pair of handmade shoes. I describe that it feels like putting my feet into warm butter the first time you try on a pair of Ben’s shoes. They are very reasonable prices too! Sometimes I leave with a leather jacket, a bag or a belt instead of the shoes I intended to buy.

Marco Cantini

For accessories my first choice is Marco Cantini – a little bit rock and roll but always interesting – and always a talking piece.

Then a quick snack at Procacci – a quick prosecco and a few truffle finger sandwiches and I’m ready for more shopping.

Raffaele Stella Brienza

My other “best kept secret” is bowties by Raffaele Stella Brienza with his label Mani del Sud (from Luisa Via Roma). They are simply amazing.
