Pitti Uomo 93
The forthcoming edition of Pitti Immagine will have a cinema theme, accompanied by special projects and guests of honour who will make Florence the world epicenter of creativity. Firenze Yes Please has selected the most anticipated events just for you, chosen from a packed scheduling of preview to welcome buyers, journalists and cool international hunters.
This year’s guest of honour is Brooks Brothers! Established in 1818, nobody could ever have imagined that the oldest U.S. menswear brand would have become Italian owned. A unique union and premise that paves the way to spectacular celebrations. After 200 years of history, Florence is set to host an absolute fashion icon during Pitti Uomo. Two tributes are slated at the Palazzo Vecchio: on January 9, a runway in the Salone dei Cinquecento and an exhibition of the brand’s mythical archives in the Sala d’Arme.
By invitation only the prestigious Lanificio Ricceri presents Felice Limosani’s video installation “Fabric is Art” at Florence’s Accademia Gallery. A universal masterpiece of world sculpture, David’s marble surface will be dressed in digital art and pixel light. A cultural project that raises textiles to the same level as sculpture as an artistic language, a way of reminding us that art is an extension of craftsmanship and that it also lives on outside of galleries and museums.
Everybody’s holding their breath for the opening of the Gucci Garden, in Palazzo della Mercanzia in piazza della Signoria. Alessandro Michele, the undisputed visionary and talented creative director of the historic fashion brand, blends history with modernity. The surprise will be revealed during Florence’s men’s fashion week, making Florence a memorable location regardless of the city’s beauty.
