“Blooming in Paradise” work of art by Felice Limosani, artistically reinterprets the legacy of Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, which for over 800 years has represented an incomparable cultural heritage. The installation is conceived as a “heavenly” environment in constant bloom, meant to be experienced with one's senses. The public will be completely immersed in the enchantment of the lights, paired with an evocative soundtrack and enlivened by a suspended fragrance. The artist hence comments its creation: “The idea comes from the title, which evokes a sense of flowering in a sublime dimension. Flowering doesn't just mean to blossom, but figuratively it represents regeneration, growth, renewal. My visual metaphor does not refer to a theological or spiritual paradise but rather to a paradisiacal, harmonious and idyllic dimension. The combination of the two concepts bring us to the magnificence of nature, to our role in caring for and preserving it, and to the indissoluble bond that unites humanity to the kingdom of flowers, without which biodiversity and life would be compromised”.
Limosani, a reference figure in the cultural milieu of Digital Humanities, explores the possibilities of integrating humanities and digital culture. His works, acquired by the Harvard Digital Collection, are internationally recognized for the artistic language that places the emphasis on the perception, contemplation and emotional experience of those who visit them. This artistic project is part of the program of enhancement of typically Florentine botanical and floral raw materials that the Officina has recently taken upon with its new collection of Eau de Parfum "I Giardini Medicei".
