The bond between Riccardo Muti and the Festival del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino began in 1968. At just 27 years old, Muti debuted with the legendary pianist Sviatoslav Richter, who was asked if he would allow for a young newcomer to join him on the stage, responding “I have nothing against it, so long as he’s a good musician”. It was a triumph that marked Florentine culture, transforming into an enduring bond between the city and the Maestro. The experience blended his artistic and personal life. His three children were born in Florence, while Maggio vaunted an extraordinary era under his direction, which came to an end in 1980. The Don Giovanni by Mozart will be staged for the 83rd edition of the festval and directed by Riccardo Muti. We’re sure that another page in history will be written with the everlasting ink of Beauty.
