Today more than ever before, Salvatore Ferragamo interprets contemporaneity beyond the world of fashion. The reality of our current condition implores us to dedicate greater attention to natural materials, as well as new concepts of reuse and innovative processes that respect nature. This happened even during the war, when materials were hard to come by. At the time, Salvatore was able to envision unexpected solutions that highlighted the shoemaker’s creative genius, refined aesthetic and talented manual skill. And so, transparent chocolate wrappers replaced leather, and with a lack of metal, he invented the wedge heel covered in cork. Experiences and anecdotes like these wrote the history of fashion, becoming reflections of the curent times that look towards the future.
